Monkey Mirror: copy the monkey
The sign says MONKEY SAYS, and the monkey strikes a pose: hands up, arms out, a star. Copy it like a mirror and hold it while your ring fills. Match it together for a burst of gold stars.
How it plays
- Watch the monkey. The sign names the pose and the monkey shows it, so kids who can't read yet can play.
- Copy it and hold it while your ring fills, about a second.
- Match it together for bonus stars. A missed pose costs nothing: the next one comes along.
There's no jumping and no running, so it's a quiet one for flats and small rooms.
Levels
Ten levels in two worlds. The first starts with hands up, one arm out and a T, then adds a V, a squat, a star, and letters made with your body: a T, a Y, an X. In the second, listen carefully: a cheeky parrot sometimes calls a pose without saying "Monkey says". Copy him and he tickles you with a feather. Later, two kids make one letter together, and the poses come two or three at a time.
It's a team game: two kids stand side by side and add up their stars, and nobody loses. One kid can play alone too.
Setting up takes two minutes
- A laptop, tablet or phone with a camera. Prop a tablet or phone up sideways, on a shelf or against a few books.
- Put it at about chest height, camera facing the room: a laptop on a table or TV stand, or a tablet or phone propped up sideways. A laptop plugged into the TV makes the runners easy to see.
- Step back 2 to 3 metres: Player 1 on the left, Player 2 on the right, head to toe in view.
- Hands up to join, and play.
Nothing leaves your device
There are no accounts or logins, no ads and no tracking. The camera video is processed on the device and never uploaded, so no video, photos or body data leave it.
