Ten Jar: catch the fireflies
Fireflies drift through the sky above each kid. When one glows right above her, she jumps with her hands up, catches it, and it flies into the jar. Fill the jar together.
Part of the Family Unlock. If this device has it, the button opens the game. If not, it takes you to the unlock.
How it plays
- Watch your sky. Each kid has her own, with a soft ring just above her hands.
- Jump with your hands up when a firefly glows in the ring. It chimes too, so even the youngest knows when.
- Fill the jar together. Every catch lights a slot in the catcher's colour.
Levels
Ten levels in two worlds. In the first, fireflies drift slowly, one at a time, then loop and swoop, then come two at a time. In the second, night falls: brown moths join in, and they never glow, so catching one doesn't count. Player 2, on the right, gets a slightly bigger catch ring, for a younger brother or sister.
It's a team game: two kids side by side fill one jar, and nobody loses. One kid can play alone too, with a smaller jar to fill.
The Family Unlock
Ten Jar comes with the Family Unlock, along with Sneak: one payment, no subscription, on up to 5 of your family's devices, with a 30-day refund. Hopadoo, Sum Run, Word Pop and Monkey Mirror stay free either way. See pricing.
Setting up takes two minutes
- A laptop, tablet or phone with a camera. Prop a tablet or phone up sideways, on a shelf or against a few books.
- Put it at about chest height, camera facing the room: a laptop on a table or TV stand, or a tablet or phone propped up sideways. A laptop plugged into the TV makes the runners easy to see.
- Step back 2 to 3 metres: Player 1 on the left, Player 2 on the right, head to toe in view.
- Hands up to join, and play.
Nothing leaves your device
There are no accounts or logins, no ads and no tracking. The camera video is processed on the device and never uploaded, so no video, photos or body data leave it.

Ten Jar is all about jumping. For a game with no jumping at all, try Monkey Mirror, or the No jumping mode in Hopadoo.
What ages is it for?
About 5 to 12.
What if the camera isn’t working?
Every game also plays with the keyboard, so nobody misses out.
